Vladimir Lange earned his BA degree from New York University, and his MD degree from Harvard Medical School. He went on to practice Emergency Medicine at Antelope Valley Medical Center in Lancaster, California.
In 1986 Dr. Lange founded Lange Productions, a medical multimedia company dedicated to serving the patient education and provider education needs of the healthcare community. Today Lange Productions develops and publishes videos, books, and interactive sites. Many of these programs have been translated into other languages and distributed on all five continents.
When Dr. Lange’s wife, also a physician, was diagnosed with breast cancer, both of them where overwhelmed and confused by the complexity of information they had to absorb. ”If two physicians are confused,” says Dr. Lange, “how is a lay person expected to understand?” The realization led him to create Be a Survivor–Your Guide to Breast Cancer Treatment.
Now in its fifth edition, the book has been honored with some of the most prestigious awards in the industry, including the International Health and Medical Film Competition Freddie, and the New York Festival World Medal for Interactive Multimedia.
The number of patients affected by colorectal cancer is similar to those affected by breast cancer, but there far fewer resources for colorectal cancer patients. To correct this disparity, Dr. Lange has created the Be a Survivor-Colorectal Cancer Guide book. The content of the book has been converted to this website, and greatly enhanced by statements of the outstanding physicians of the Avera Cancer Center.
Be a Survivor – Colorectal Cancer Guide has been honored by a rare and coveted endorsement by ASCRS – The American Society of Colorectal Surgeons – an organization of highly trained specialists in this disease.
